Law & order
Topic overview

Where do the parties stand on crime and punishment?

Tougher sentencing draws the clearest line: Kristdemokraterna, Moderaterna and Sverigedemokraterna want both to double sentences for serious gang crime and to lower the age of criminal responsibility, with Liberalerna close to the same line on sentencing, while Vänsterpartiet and Miljöpartiet reject the measures. Socialdemokraterna and Centerpartiet shift between the camps question by question. On police powers, agreement is broadest on expanding high-security prison capacity — six of eight parties — while stop-and-search zones and real-time facial recognition split the parties into clear yes and no camps.

Strongly disagree

About Polara

Polara is a personal side project by Jonas Svensson — an attempt to see whether you can build a Swedish voting compass without party colour, agenda, or political funding.

The site draws on what the parties say themselves: election manifestos, party programmes, and websites. Every position links back to its source, and uncertainty is shown rather than hidden.

Open method. No accounts. No tracking. Here to help you think, not to push.
