Economy & taxes
Topic overview

Where do the parties stand on the economy and taxes?

The overall tax level is the clearest dividing line in economic policy: Moderaterna, Kristdemokraterna, Liberalerna, Centerpartiet and Sverigedemokraterna want lower taxes on work and business, while Vänsterpartiet, Socialdemokraterna and Miljöpartiet oppose the cuts — Vänsterpartiet also wants higher taxes on top incomes. The same two camps face off over reinstating a wealth tax. On state ownership of electricity production the pattern breaks: Sverigedemokraterna side with Vänsterpartiet and Socialdemokraterna, while Centerpartiet, Liberalerna, Kristdemokraterna and Moderaterna are opposed.

About Polara

Polara is a personal side project by Jonas Svensson — an attempt to see whether you can build a Swedish voting compass without party colour, agenda, or political funding.

The site draws on what the parties say themselves: election manifestos, party programmes, and websites. Every position links back to its source, and uncertainty is shown rather than hidden.

Open method. No accounts. No tracking. Here to help you think, not to push.
