Topic overview

Where do the parties stand on defence?

On defence spending most parties pull the same way: five of the eight Riksdag parties want to raise spending towards at least 3 per cent of GDP, Socialdemokraterna take no clear position in their programme, and only Vänsterpartiet and Miljöpartiet say no. The dividing lines concern how deep NATO cooperation should go: Centerpartiet, Liberalerna, Kristdemokraterna and Moderaterna are open to permanent NATO bases in Sweden, while Vänsterpartiet, Socialdemokraterna, Miljöpartiet and Sverigedemokraterna reject them. Among the Riksdag parties, only Kristdemokraterna, Moderaterna and Sverigedemokraterna say yes to NATO nuclear weapons on Swedish soil.

About Polara

Polara is a personal side project by Jonas Svensson — an attempt to see whether you can build a Swedish voting compass without party colour, agenda, or political funding.

The site draws on what the parties say themselves: election manifestos, party programmes, and websites. Every position links back to its source, and uncertainty is shown rather than hidden.

Open method. No accounts. No tracking. Here to help you think, not to push.
