EU & foreign policy
Topic overview

Where do the parties stand on the EU and foreign policy?

Only Liberalerna want to adopt the euro: Vänsterpartiet, Socialdemokraterna, Miljöpartiet and Sverigedemokraterna say no, while Centerpartiet, Kristdemokraterna and Moderaterna take no clear position in their programmes. On the depth of EU cooperation, Socialdemokraterna, Centerpartiet, Liberalerna, Kristdemokraterna and Moderaterna back a stronger common foreign and defence policy, while Vänsterpartiet, Miljöpartiet and Sverigedemokraterna are opposed. Foreign aid divides along a different line: five parties want to restore it to 1 per cent of GNI, while Moderaterna and Sverigedemokraterna say no and Liberalerna sit in the middle.

About Polara

Polara is a personal side project by Jonas Svensson — an attempt to see whether you can build a Swedish voting compass without party colour, agenda, or political funding.

The site draws on what the parties say themselves: election manifestos, party programmes, and websites. Every position links back to its source, and uncertainty is shown rather than hidden.

Open method. No accounts. No tracking. Here to help you think, not to push.
